I, Too, Sing America: The Harlem Renaissance at 100
Photo Essay
In 2018, Several Columbus arts organizations came together to recognize the 100 year anniversary since the Harlem Renaissance and to use make a statement that will be heard far and wide. Columbus hosts a thrilling and accessible opportunity to appreciate the past and understand what the Harlem Renaissance can teach us about our nation today by highlighting the work of African American Artists.
The creative team took a group of Columbus based artists to Harlem to shoot a short-documentary of their tangible experience with Harlem as it is now. While there I journaled through photography to document the experience. Many photos document artists at Langston Hughes last home.
This photo essay won Best of Category in Photography at 2019 Columbus Society of Communicating Arts Creative Best Awards.
The Journey: Columbus to Harlem Gallery Exhibition (August 23, 2018)
This exhibition featured the takeaways from our landmark journey to Harlem, New York. Experience New York through the eyes of Samara Tillman, Lori Lindsey, Percy King, Tripp Fontane and Jay Swifa.
